Early Parenthood Counselling

Becoming a parent can be one of the biggest transitions in your life. It can bring love, joy and a sense of meaning—but it can also bring exhaustion, uncertainty, identity changes, relationship challenges and a feeling that you don't quite recognize yourself anymore.

Early parenthood is a lot to adjust to. You're learning how to care for your baby while also trying to figure out who you are in this new version of your life.

You don't have to love every part of it to be a good parent.

When Early Parenthood Feels Harder Than You Expected

The transition into parenthood can affect nearly every part of your life. You may be struggling with feeling overwhelmed by the demands of caring for a baby, feeling like you're never doing enough, or feeling lonely or isolated. You might be struggling with losing your sense of identity or independence, and missing your old life while deeply loving your baby. You may be feeling touched out, overstimulated or emotionally exhausted. You may be noticing the changes in your relationship with your partner, feeling disconnected from your partner or yourself, and adjusting to changes in friendships, work and social life.

Sometimes the hardest part is that everyone keeps asking how the baby is doing—but no one asks how you are doing.

This is your transition, too.

A Place to Talk About the Parts Nobody Warned You About

Early parenthood counselling gives you space to talk about the things that can be difficult to say out loud.

You can talk about loving your baby while missing your old life. About feeling grateful while also feeling completely exhausted. About your relationship changing. About the pressure to do everything “right.” About the invisible mental load you're carrying every day.

Therapy can help you:

  • Adjust to your new identity and role as a parent

  • Manage overwhelm and the mental load

  • Work through guilt and unrealistic expectations

  • Navigate changes in your relationship

  • Reconnect with yourself outside of motherhood

  • Build confidence in your parenting decisions

  • Find ways to feel more grounded and supported

You don't need to become the old version of yourself again. Together, we can explore who you're becoming—and how to make room for that person, too.

Parenting Doesn't Have to Look Perfect

There is so much pressure surrounding early parenthood. The right sleep approach. The right feeding choices. Developmental milestones. Screen time. Routines. Activities. And somehow finding time to take care of yourself, too.

It can feel like you're constantly wondering:

Am I doing enough?
Am I doing this right?
Why does everyone else seem to have it figured out?

There is no perfect way to parent, and there is no perfect way to experience becoming a parent.

My approach is warm, collaborative and real. Therapy isn't about adding another list of things you should be doing. It's about creating space to understand what you're going through and figuring out what support actually looks like for you and your family.
